Signs your tree is ready to be removed

It’s hard to say goodbye to a big beautiful tree that has been a part of your backyard or property for years, providing shade and comfort. However, older trees can become unsafe. If you’re not too sure about the health of your trees, you can give them a quick check up with these quick and easy steps and always follow it up with an experienced Arborist before taking any action.

  1. Examine the branches

Do the branches look strong and stable? Or are they brittle, hanging and unstable? These could be signs your tree is in need of thorough pruning or removal. It would be best to call your trusted local Arborist to review it. Leaving an unsafe looking tree too long could cause damage to your home or personal injury.

2. Check the leaves

The leaves on a tree can tell you if it is sick or riddled with disease. If your tree is indeed sick, this can cause server structural faults which are unsafe and can cause damage. Things to look for is discoloration – are they looking pale, an abnormal colour? Do they have abnormal lumps and bumps? Is your tree dropping leaves at irregular times of the year? These could all be signs your tree is sick! Get an Arborist in to have a look, as sometimes trees can be saved and the disease can heal – although if the disease is server the tree will need to be removed safely by a qualified Arborist. Give us a call on 9249 4077 if your leaves are showing any of these signs.

3. Overgrown the space

Sometimes trees simply get too wide or tall for the space they were originally planted in. Perhaps you are wanting to extend your home or build a patio?

4. Look for abnormalities

How does the trunk look? Does it have strange bumps growing all over the bark? Are branches dying and falling off unexpectedly? Is there a sign of fungus? If you aren’t sure what to look for, you can look up tree disease online and match the symptoms.

5. Leaning

This could be an indication that the roots are eroding. If left untreated this could result in disaster…especially to whatever is underneath it. Call your Arborist right away!
