Back in the day
Growing up in the bush meant that Gary Dickie spent a lot of time outdoors and climbing trees. While becoming an arborist might seem like a strange choice for someone who’s passionate about the natural environment, it’s important to remember that the job is just as much about caring for trees and optimising their growth in urban areas, as it is removing those that pose a risk to people or are in poor health.
Together with his wife, Judy, Gary built on his reputation of hard work, reliability and great communication to bring Dickie’s Tree Service to where it is today – one of WA’s oldest and most established tree surgeon companies. Their son, Cameron, is also a key member of the team, and while the company has expanded to employ over 40 team members, Dickie’s Tree Service continues to be family-owned and operated, and their values remain the same.
Nowadays
In addition to Gary’s extensive experience, Dickie’s Tree Service has many long-term employees who have enhanced their own skills through Gary’s knowledge.
Our experienced quoting team know all the difficulties associated with any project and will ensure that all necessary personnel and equipment are assigned to execute the task in the safest possible manner.
We have various contracts with large government organisations, local councils and private industry. These organisations range from major hospitals, universities and army bases, to private golf courses and colleges.
Insurance work is one of our specialities, as we are fully experienced in knowing how to organise the intricacies of this work. One of the key elements of our business is our prompt response times to dangerous situations. Our employees are also trained, qualified and experienced in building site work.

Cameron Dickie
Cameron Dickie is the Managing Director of Dickies Tree Service, a family-owned arboriculture and tree services company based in Perth, Western Australia. With more than 23 years of hands-on industry experience, Cameron has progressed from groundsperson to crew leader to Managing Director, developing extensive expertise across tree removal, pruning, vegetation management, risk assessment, emergency response and power line clearance works.
Under Cameron’s leadership, Dickies Tree Service has grown into one of Perth’s most established and trusted tree service providers, employing a team of more than 40 staff and delivering works for government agencies, local councils, universities, commercial organisations and residential clients across the Perth metropolitan area.
Cameron combines practical operational knowledge with a strong focus on safety, environmental responsibility and long-term client relationships. He leads the company’s business development, tendering and strategic growth while remaining closely involved in operational planning, taking a considered approach to balancing tree health, canopy management and best-practice arboriculture within council and industry guidelines.
Having grown up within the family business founded by his father more than 40 years ago, Cameron is committed to evolving Dickies Tree Service while upholding the hard work, reliability and integrity the business was built on.
