Perth’s famous Sugar Gum Tree has come crashing down!
Sadly for the prestigious restaurant, Bluewater Grill Steakhouse, their very old 25 metre plus Sugar Gum Tree has come crashing down. This was due to a combination of high winds, the heat but mainly because it had a poor/weak root system. Luckily there were no patrons around at the time so no one was hurt. A timely reminder to make sure any trees you have in your yard are maintained and that the surrounds are kept to a safe standard.
This beautiful tree has been a feature of Heathcote for many years and will be sorely missed.
Due to the enormity of the job and the safety precautions, a Dickies Tree crew quickly pulled together and worked with both the City of Melville Shire Representatives and a crane company to remove the tree and all debris. This was all completed on Bluewater Grill’s quietest operating day so as not to affect the restaurant trading.
The only way to remove the tree was to lift it over the building, refer to our pictures.
